NJ State Law requires that all students between the ages of 10-18 be examined every other year. This will be done during 5th and 7th grade by the school nurse. Any pupil shall be exempt from the examination upon receipt of written request from his or her parents/guardian. Students identified as needing follow-up will be referred to their private medical doctor.

Tuberculosis Screening

The N.J.A.C. 6:29-4.2 requires that only the Mantoux intradermal test be used to test students for tuberculosis. Students who transfer into BES during the current school year from a country identified by the Health Department will be required to provide current Mantoux documentation. A Mantoux test will be considered acceptable only if it was administered within the previous six months.
