05 Fifth Grade – 2018-2019 School Year
Fifth Grade News for Bloomsbury School District
Dermatologists will be conducting a free American Academy of Dermatology SPOTme® skin cancer screening event on May 13th from 5:30 – 7:30 and on May 15th from 5:15 – 7:15 pm provided by the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center in Flemington.
Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers and it is estimated that one person dies from melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, every hour. Importantly, most skin cancers can be treated successfully if detected early, according to the American Cancer Society. People who attend the program will be given a full body screen by board-certified dermatologists, Carter Abel, MD, Alissa Fox, MD, Michael Sisack, MD and Adam Blechman, MD. The event will also include educational information on skin cancer prevention and detection connecting participants with resources.
Unlike other cancers, skin cancer can be seen on the surface of your skin, making it critical to regularly check your skin for changing and suspicious spots. A skin cancer screening from a dermatologist is a visual exam that is painless, only takes a few minutes and could save a life. The screening is open to people ages 18 and older that have not been screened within the past 24 months, are not currently under the care of a dermatologist and have no prior history of a skin cancer diagnosis.
The screening will be held at the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center located at 2100 Wescott Drive in Flemington. Registration is required and space is limited. Your assistance in disseminating this information to promote the event — in particular to those most in need — is greatly appreciated.

Registration is now open for the Musconetcong Watershed Association’s (MWA) Camp Musky, an educational and fun day camp for kids ages 5 – 12+ years old. We offer an outdoor learning experience, and hands-on, river-based programs. Our primary mission is education and awareness. We believe that a community that is fully aware of the importance and vulnerability of its natural resources is a community that will actively support efforts to ensure environmental quality. Campers will explore the beautiful MWA River Resource Center, and adjoining 30 acres of preserved meadow, woods, and wetlands. More information and forms are available at https://www.musconetcong.org/camp-musky or email email@example.com.
